Documented relationship with Iron Supplements containing 25 mg or more of elemental iron taken at the same time as zinc can reduce zinc absorption and plasma zinc concentrations. Iron used to fortify foods does not significantly interfere with zinc absorption.

Reduces absorption or status of Magnesium One study found that zinc supplements at 142 mg a day interfered with magnesium absorption and disrupted magnesium balance. That intake is well above the tolerable upper intake level for zinc.

Increases absorption or status of Vitamin B9 The bioavailability of dietary folate depends on a zinc-dependent enzyme, and some studies found that low zinc intake decreased folate absorption. The reverse effect of folic acid on zinc has been suggested but was not seen in a study giving 800 mcg a day of folic acid to people on a low-zinc diet. Linus Pauling Institute
